Meeting called to order
3 board members present (SR, BH, DM)
David Metzgar reported the results of the survey of SDHGPA Members, taken at the request of the Torrey Pines Soaring Council, on the question of the possible re-regulation of Torrey Pines as a Hang 3 site requiring 50 hours of flight time, to replace the current Hang 4 requirement.
Thanks to all who answered, these results will be reported to the TPSC:
Summary: (PG, HG, and biwingual pilot responses were similarly distributed and equal in numbers, and are therefor merged). | SHOULD TORREY BE OPENED UP TO HANG 3'S?

Blossom: Bill Helliwell reported plans to develop a large-scale sand/gravel pit mine in El Monte valley (to us, Blossom Valley). There is an active movement protesting this development by conservationists and land use groups in Lakeside, and they would appreciate any supportive letters our club, or members of our club, could write to our county supervisors highlighting the negative impacts this would have on our flying activities and the viewshed in the area along with our desires to limit industrial development in the valley. The development is being disingenuously presented as a preservation activity. | You can follow conservation efforts at the following web site. https://saveelmontevalley.wordpress.com/ and on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/El-Monte-Nature-Preserve-Stop-The-Sand-Mine-In-El-Monte-Valley-1840620092830820/timeline/ |
