What do you do when someone hits the ground hard? Look, I know you're not a medical professional, but if you're flying you should have a basic idea of what to do in a medical emergency.

We've got 2 local emergency responders who are also free flight pilots walking us through a 2 hour discussion on what YOU should know how to do.
No certifications will be handed out. This is not an official class or recognized course of instruction, just a rough 'n ready guide to what you should know as a paragliding pilot who might be on the scene of a pg/hg crash.

If you're wondering what else you might do beyond attending a short discussion, here are links to various places offering Wilderness Medicine training. These range from $2-300 for a weekend's worth of training out to month long Wilderness EMT training.
For most pilots flying the mountains in San Diego, (and this is only Nik's opinion, NOT the official opinion of the SDHGPA) the short weekend course (Wilderness First Aid) is a superb start.
If you're going to get into anything longer than casual site flying, (looking at all you folks who are talking about vol-biv), you should seriously consider getting your WFR (Wilderness First Responder.)

Here is a BASIC list of things you might have in your med kit. This is NOT medical advice, do not sue SDHGPA when you can't figure out how to put on a tourniquet using only chapstick and band aids. Go to a good wilderness medicine course run by a reputable company and learn what to do!
- Ace wraps
- Tape
- Gauze
- Band aids
- Super glue
- Chapstick
- Compact emergency blanket
- Dental floss
