The possibility of obtaining a “Right to Use” from San Diego Parks and Recreation and a key to allow hang glider transport to the upper (800) launch at Little Black via the tower road was discussed.
Anto reported that this concept had been approved unanimously by the Black Mountain Open Space Citizen’s Advisory Committee representing all user groups with the following conditions: so long as the access was used rarely, responsibly, and only for the purposes of delivering hang gliders and hang glider pilots to the upper launch, with the restrictions that key access was controlled, the gate was left locked at all times, vehicles were driven responsibly and right-of-way yielded in all situations to non-motorized users, and vehicles were not left at the launch but rather removed immediately by the driver delivering the gliders and pilots.
Greg H offered a motion as follows: Motion to submit a proposal to San Diego Parks and Recreation for “right to use” the Tower Road on Black Mountain for the specific purpose of transporting hang gliders to launch by private vehicle. 3/3 board members voted yes. Motion approved. Antonella Z and Dave M will draft a proposal to include the methods of key control, access documentation, and dissemination and enforcement of the rules proposed by the Black Mountain CAC and SDHGPA.
Motion to thank Greg for his service as VP, and for use of his awesome clubhouse. Everyone present voted “yay!”. Thank you Greg!
Issues with members’ ability to access card and parking pass forms via cell phone (as commonly used to apply for membership, sometimes at the last minute) was discussed. Current system does not offer autoresponder emails providing new members with access information to retrieve cards and passes, and if they do not access the site upon payment, it can be difficult for them to access the site at all. Also the wisdom of using a universal password to the website, which could be used (even in the absence of membership) to access and print membership cards and parking passes, was discussed.
Steve R noted that, basically, we needed a way to turn the membership application into a purchase of digital goods, which would include the parking pass and the membership card, and possibly a way to provide members with unique passwords, limiting access to membership cards, parking passes, and other items that should be controlled and limited to current vetted members with confirmed USHPA ratings and memberships. We also need a way to send access information (passwords, etc) via an autoresponder when a new membership is purchased. Others also suggested possibility of linking to USHPA site & through USHPA records to create SDHGPA cards. However, linking to the USHPA would be a major undertaking and lots of code + testing that we would likely not want to undertake. Dave asked about customized digital materials by having names preprinted on cards. This might be possible, but there is not a clear and easy way to do this on demand with our current weebly website platform. Will take more time, but we could look into options for this.
Steve offered a motion to move our current “professional” level Weebly website contract (~$9/month) to the more expensive but more enabling “business” level (~$20/month), allowing us to sell digital goods through the website, pin such sales to PayPal, and provide users with individual passwords to the members only areas.
3/3 board members voted yes; Motion approved.
Hopefully Steve and Peter can make it work!
