Thank you for joining or renewing your membership in the San Diego Hang Gliding Paragliding Association (SDHGPA). The SDHGPA is the oldest and largest hang gliding club in San Diego. We administer, insure, and maintain most major sites in San Diego County for the benefit of all club members. Annual dues include all membership rights and benefits.

SDHGPA, (San Diego Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association), is a local chapter of USHPA, (United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association). 

USHPA membership is required and by submitting my Annual or Visiting SDHGPA Application / Renewal, by proceeding to Payment, I agree to maintain USHPA membership in good standing when flying and or participating in SDHGPA activities. 
(Non Rated Students may Join and Fly SDHGPA sites if and only if under the direct supervision of their Instructors)​

By proceeding to Payment, I also reaffirm I have read in full and agree to the USHPA Association Liability Release that extends to SDHGPA as a local chapter.
SDHGPA Memberships
Annual dues: 
$40 Full Memberships are for the calendar year beginning January 1 and ending December 31 with no prorating. New and early and Annual Memberships Renewals submitted in the months of November and Dec will be rolled over to the following years Annual Membership.
Visiting Pilot Temporary Memberships:
$20.00/month
​(Temporary membership pilots must fly with active Club Members for site access and will not receive gate codes or Members Only section Access).
SDHGPA Site Fund Donation
Due to keeping our membership fees no excuses low, we are also very dependent on voluntary site fund contributions for site maintenance, and improvements

If you feel our membership fees are too low to maintain and support our 9+ sites, as compared to some single site memberships, please make a voluntary contribution to our site fund when renewing or any time.
Membership FAQ:
  • USHPA membership is required 
  • ​Non Rated Students may Join SDHGPA and Fly SDHGPA Sites only if under the direct supervision of their Instructors
  • Some of our flying sites including Palomar, Blossom and Laguna REQUIRE you carry your SDHGPA membership card along with your USHPA card in order to fly.
  • Vehicle ID/ Gate Pass is required to be displayed on your front driver side dash for all Palomar Launches and the Pala LZs. It is also a good idea to display this ID at all of our flying sites as a safety measure when cars are remaining at Launches or LZs at the end of the day. 
  • Membership Cards and Parking Passes will be e-mailed to you instantly after your On Line Membership Application Form is submitted for instant printing or storage on mobile devices.
  • Memberships can be obtained or checked at sites with your mobile devices if cell coverage is available with your carrier. But, it is better to sign-up and print your memberships before heading out.
  • Current Membership Status is now updated real time with Membership Form submit.
  • Annual Membership cards can also be accessed and re-printed from the Member Only section of website. 
  • Site Gate Codes are only provided to Annual Members after Membership Verification and may take several weeks to process. If you desire immediate site gate access, Please Fly with current local active Annual Member Pilots for site access and site briefings. ​Visiting pilots can only gain gate access with a Full Member guide present.
  • Annual Members will receive a separate email after verification on how to access the Member Only section of the website and receive current gate codes. ​
  • ​Note that you do not need a PayPal account and can check out as a guest using a credit card. ​Please reference your USHPA number for who the membership is for in note to seller during check. This is especially important if paying for another persons membership or using a spouses Paypal Account. 
  • International Visiting Pilots: USHPA Membership and Rating information for International Pilots.  USHPA Membership is required in addition to your Foreign Ratings.
